Early Career & Education

Dr Aydin graduated with First-Class Honours in Psychology from Istanbul University, where his interest in the relationship between brain function and behaviour first developed. He subsequently completed advanced training in clinical psychology, specialising in neuropsychological assessment.

His doctoral research focused on the diagnostic complexities surrounding autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and specific learning difficulties. This work established a foundation for his clinical approach: the recognition that accurate diagnosis requires a comprehensive understanding of individual neurological differences.

Following doctoral training, Dr Aydin gained extensive clinical experience across diverse settings, including NHS trusts, private practice, and specialist neurological services.

This breadth of experience informed his understanding of the gaps that existed in specialist neuropsychological provision—gaps that would later motivate the establishment of Cosmos Healthcare.

Founding Cosmos Healthcare

In 2016, Dr Aydin founded Cosmos Healthcare to address a significant unmet need in specialist neuropsychological services. The practice was established with a clear vision: to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment that integrates the latest advances in neuroscience with rigorous clinical methodology.

From its inception, Cosmos Healthcare has pioneered the integration of quantitative EEG (QEEG) brain mapping with neuromodulation therapies.

This approach enables treatment protocols to be precisely tailored to each patient's unique neurological profile—a significant advancement over conventional approaches that often rely on trial and error.

The practice has since become a recognised centre of excellence, attracting referrals from across the United Kingdom and internationally.

Clinical Philosophy

"Accurate diagnosis is not merely the beginning of treatment; it is often the treatment itself. When patients truly understand what is happening in their brain, they become active participants in their own recovery." — Dr Alptekin Aydin

Dr Aydin's clinical approach is characterised by three core principles:

Precision Assessment

Every treatment programme begins with comprehensive assessment, including detailed clinical history, standardised psychometric testing, and where indicated, QEEG brain mapping. This foundation ensures that subsequent interventions are precisely targeted.

Evidence-Based Treatment

Treatment recommendations are grounded in the best available scientific evidence. Dr Aydin maintains active engagement with the research literature and regularly updates clinical protocols to reflect advances in the field.

Patient Partnership

Effective treatment requires active patient engagement. Dr Aydin places significant emphasis on ensuring patients understand their condition and the rationale for recommended interventions. This collaborative approach enhances treatment adherence and outcomes.
